Located in the heart of Toronto’s vibrant Queen West neighbourhood, Graffiti Alley is one of the city’s most recognizable urban art spaces. Stretching roughly a kilometre through the Fashion District, the alley is filled with constantly changing murals, tags, and large-scale street art created by both local and international artists. The colourful walls transform what was once an ordinary laneway into an open-air gallery that attracts photographers, tourists, filmmakers, and creatives from around the world. Every visit feels different, as new artwork regularly appears over older pieces, giving the alley a raw and ever-evolving energy.

Beyond its visual appeal, Graffiti Alley represents Toronto’s creative and cultural spirit. Once considered a neglected back alley, the space gradually became celebrated as an important part of the city’s street art movement and was recognized for its cultural significance in 2011. Today, it serves as both an artistic landmark and a symbol of self-expression, blending political commentary, pop culture references, and personal storytelling into its walls. The alley’s gritty atmosphere, combined with bursts of colour and texture, makes it one of the most photographed locations in the city and a favourite destination for street photographers looking to capture Toronto’s urban character.

I did one POV through Graffiti Alley in January of 2022. You can watch that here.
