My Little Story
My name is Craig Cook, I’m a photographer/drone pilot.
Photography in my early life was something that didn’t really appeal to me. For the most part, it was always frustrating to me. I could never understand why after paying “so much” for a camera, the images would come out a blurry mess. Granted, I was shooting with a point and shoot but nevertheless. I had high expectations from that little image-maker.
And now here I am, many years later with a much better understanding of what it takes to create an image by shaping light.
It requires knowledge of the exposure triangle, as well as a decent camera.
Street photography has always felt like the purest form of storytelling to me. There’s something powerful about capturing real life exactly as it unfolds—no staging, no scripts, just authentic moments happening in front of the lens. Every street, corner, and sidewalk holds a story waiting to be noticed. When I’m out with my camera, I’m constantly observing the rhythm of the city: the way light falls between buildings, the quiet moments between strangers, or the unexpected interactions that happen in a split second. Those fleeting scenes are what make street photography so addictive.
What I love most is the unpredictability. Unlike other types of photography where you can plan every detail, street photography rewards patience and awareness. A moment can appear and disappear in seconds—a laugh between friends, a dramatic shadow crossing someone’s face, or a perfect alignment of people and architecture. Being able to freeze that moment forever feels like preserving a small piece of time that would otherwise be lost.
Street photography also connects me more deeply to the places I visit. Whether I’m exploring a new city or walking through familiar streets, having a camera in hand makes me slow down and notice things most people pass by. It turns everyday life into a visual adventure. The ordinary suddenly becomes interesting, and even the smallest details can tell a powerful story.
At its core, street photography reminds me that life itself is the subject. It’s messy, spontaneous, beautiful, and sometimes imperfect—but that’s exactly what makes it worth capturing. Every frame becomes a snapshot of humanity, a moment of truth that reflects how people live, move, and exist in the world around them.
If you’re into drone content, I do that too. Check out my 6ixdrones site.
